WHAT THE HECK IS RESIN ART?

Epoxy resin is  a two-component system consisting of resin and hardener. By mixing the two components, a chemical reaction takes place so that the liquid resin gradually hardens to a solid plastic.

The result is a high-gloss, clear surface. Pigments, inks, mica powders and a host of other colorants can be added. Resin can be used to "paint" a picture, it can be formed into bowls, flowers, 3D paintings, kitchen counters, floors, tables, pictures, jewelry or sculptures can also be cast. 

There is a host of different resin's out  there made for different uses.  For example, my go to resin is Stonecoat Countertop - Art Coat.  It has a long working time of close to 2 hour, its heat resistant up to 500 degrees, UV resistant and is food safe. Cure time is 24-48 hours.

Quick Coat resins cure very fast, with a work time of under 30 minutes and cured to the touch within a few hours.  

Most resins used for art applications have a 45 minute work time in perfect conditions.
